Situated on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, is a small town that attracts plenty of visitors throughout the year. Hampton Beach Seafood Festival

Occurring every year on the weekend after Labor Day, the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival is the largest celebration of its kind in the state. The festival features 60 of the area’s top restaurants serving an incredible variety of seafood dishes. You’ll find favorites like lobster, shrimp, and fried clams, as well as non-seafood items such as barbecue ribs and decadent desserts. There are also over 80 arts and crafts vendors, live bands on two stages, a lobster roll eating contest, chef demonstrations, fireworks show, and more.

Penguin Plunge

The annual Penguin Plunge occurs every year on the first weekend of February. Before the event, hundreds of people will raise money to benefit Special Olympics New Hampshire, and then they celebrate by rushing into the freezing waters of the Atlantic Ocean. A costume parade occurs before the big plunge happens at noon. After the plunge, everyone heads to the Casino Ballroom for the after-party and awards ceremony.

Children’s Festival

The Children’s Festival is five days of fun for children of all ages. The festival occurs in mid-August, and it includes plenty of free activities. Last year, the event kicked off with a magic show by BJ Hickman at the Hampton Beach Seashell Stage and then wrapped up with a costume parade that marched almost the entire length of Ocean Boulevard. Even better, every kid got a prize for walking in the parade. Other activities at the event included dancing, sandcastle building contests, balloon animals, miniature golf, free ice cream, and storytellers.

Master Sand Sculpting Classic

Happening on the third weekend of June, the Master Sand Sculpting Classic is a famous competition that brings in 15 masters from around the world to create incredible sand sculptures. Watch the masters as they work, vote on your favorite, and then end the event with a fireworks show. Since this is one of the most popular events in Hampton Beach, you’ll want to make sure you check out all the hotel options in the area, and then book early to guarantee you get a room.

Hampton Beach Catamaran Regatta

Also on the third weekend of June every year, the Hampton Beach Catamaran Regatta brings new sailors and experienced professionals alike for a weekend of fun and intense competition. The races happen throughout the day very close to the shore, so you can bring your beach chair, cooler, camera, and binoculars to enjoy all the action. Since the event coincides with the Master Sand Sculpting Classic, there will be plenty of other activities to enjoy on the beach, too.

No matter what time of year you’re visiting Hampton Beach, you’ll find exciting annual events that offer fun the entire family can enjoy.
